FOOTBALL STORY BANK!
It’s nearly time for the World Cup again and does anyone not know where it is taking place this year? As it gets nearer to the time when the eyes of all World Cup football fans start taking more interest in football and in Germany (just how far is the distance between each stadium).
Do YOU have a story to tell – one connected with football, England and Germany? The British Embassy in Berlin would like to set up a Story Bank and the quirkier the better. They have already come up with some stories, e.g. there’s the story of the famous 1965 UEFA-Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Cologne which was decided by the toss of a coin. Then there’s the story about the Cologne player Wolfgang Weber who later played in the 66 Wembley final……. ……….
Does anyone know about any possible English-German football links in Cologne or Frankfurt? Any Brits out there play regularly in a German team? Any local Brits involved in the Stadium? Any UK involvement in design of World Cup football logo for Germany? Any Brits working for Adidas? German supporters who support English teams or England? Any German locals playing for UK teams? Anyone know of a German brewery naming beer after an English player (eg Wayne Rooney!).Or perhaps a town in Germany having a Man United supporters club. As you can see they want quirky stories! But the main theme is the UK – Germany link and Football.
